Our Chocolate Dingo
aka "The Best Dog In The World"
We were shopping for a dog at the Humane Society and the Pound. I wanted a youngster that would imprint on me and that I could train from puppyhood. There were no puppies at the East Side Shelter that Thursday, but the West Side had a cute (if not overly hyper) golden retriever that would be available the following Monday. We checked again at the East Side on Saturday just to make sure and they had dozens of young puppies! Pattie saw the aura of this one chocolate-colored puppy with floppy ears and immediately fell for him. I agreed that he was a great pick. They wanted us to get him neutered right away, but he was only about 6 weeks old and we thought it would be better to wait until he was more like 6 months. So we drove off to the vet and paid for his surgery. Once that was done, we were able to pick him up that same day. On our way home we stopped by a thrift store to get a blanket and some stuffed animals for him. I made up his bed in a little box and he got in as soon as I put it on the floor. The cats didn't quite know what to think - even though he's grown they still boss him around. He has proven to be a very smart dog. By now, he knows all the tricks!
