Upper Salt River
March 2004
I left Albuquerque on Saturday, heading for the put-in where I met Chris, John, and . We ate dinner and started setting up the rafts there before hitting the hay. On Sunday the others ran the shuttle while I finished outfitting the raft. Larry and Greg arrived and got their rigging done. We were pretty much ready to take off when the shuttle drivers returned. By early afternoon we were floating under sunny skies.
This river is fun fun fun from the get go!!
We got a solid camp site that first night and had a hearty meal in the morning.
Of course, the fun continued into the next day.
Here I am goiong through the 'Eye of the Needle' (III+ to IV).

A page with some photos of me going through 'Pinball' (III to III+) is here too. The rapids were terrific. The side hikes, while steep, were nice too.
Well, that's about it for this one. Not much of a trip report really, but it's late and I'm tired. Perhaps next year I will get another permit (it was actually Wendy's this year) and the weather and water will be just as nice. Until then...
